The smart fortwo will return? The company is thinking about it, but for now there are much larger models in the range than the German two-seater, which disappeared from the list at the end of July, with the delivery of the last example for the Italian market. The die has therefore been cast, even if the last word has not yet been said.
Historically loved by Italian motorists – Rome was for years the city with the highest number of sales – the smart fortwo is back on sale. Not as a new model, but in a limited number of used copiesall belonging to the Mercedes Group’s certified and guaranteed used network.

Accompanied by the claim “Two again? But shouldn’t we have seen each other again?” – reference to the song “Ancora tu” by Lucio Battisti – the German two-seater in electric version EQ fortwo it will therefore be available on offer until 31 December 2024. Included in the price will be a 36-month guarantee, upon purchase with financing through Mercedes-Benz Financial.
For example one smart EQ fortwo pulse 4.6 kW requires an advance of 1,290 euros, 47 monthly installments of 129 euros each and a final maxi installment of 8,300 euros.
Will you return?
As mentioned at the beginning one new smart fortwo is under study, but the joint venture formed by Mercedes and Geely – which produces the #1 and #3 in China, waiting to start the lines of the #5 – is apparently evaluating the hypothesis. “We have been thinking about the heir to the fortwo for almost three years and we are about to make a decision” Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe, told us a few weeks ago.
A return that would include the eventual smart #2 – name yet to be confirmed – in a rapidly growing segment, at least in terms of size. In fact, there are more and more electric microcars in circulation, vehicles approved as light or heavy quadricycles, to fill the void left by the fortwo.
Its possible heir would certainly have higher prices, while offering the possibility of driving on the motorway, with a range certainly superior to the approximately 150 km offered by microcars with larger batteries in circulation.
