Snow is coming to Romania! The updated weather forecast for the end of November announces three consecutive days of snow and blizzard in Romania.
European meteorologists are talking about the fact that we will have a harsh winter, because of the polar vortex. There will be heavy snow, frost and blizzard. Bad weather will set in from the end of November.
Areas where it will snow at the end of November
According to meteorologists Accuweather, snow and blizzards are expected in the mountains for the next few days. The minimum temperature will reach -5 degrees Celsius and precipitation in the form of sleet and snowfall will be recorded in Brașov.
On Sunday, November 24, the very day Romanians vote for their president in the first round of the presidential elections, the maximum temperature will reach one degree Celsius. The minimum temperature will be -5 degrees, and the sky will be cloudy.
On Monday, November 25, 2024, in Brașov, the maximum temperature will be 4 degrees Celsius, and the minimum will drop to -2 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, maximum temperatures of 5 degrees are expected, and at night the temperature will drop to -2 degrees.
According to meteorologists, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, a maximum temperature of 4 degrees will be recorded during the day. Overnight, the temperature will be below freezing, registering -1 degree Celsius.
On Thursday, November 28, 2024, a maximum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius will be recorded. The minimum temperature drops to 1 degree.
On Friday, November 29, 2024, the maximum temperature will reach 3 degrees, and the minimum will drop to -1 degree Celsius. Sleet and snow are forecast.
According to Accuweather, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, the maximum temperature will reach 2 degrees Celsius, and the minimum will drop to -5 degrees.
WEATHER forecast for December: snow and blizzard
At the beginning of December, temperatures will be lower than the average for this period, ANM announces. From December, precipitation will dominate the entire country, sleet and snow are also expected under the conditions in which the night temperatures will drop below the freezing point.
“The fact that in November it is possible to have negative temperatures is not unusual in our country. Usually there are sleet and snow, which foretells the coming of winter in Romania.
Even if, as a whole, the winter months were generally mild in terms of temperatures, this does not mean that winters in Romania cannot have episodes of severe weather with blizzards and snow that bring frost with values below -20 degrees, even in the lower relief areas. It’s too early to say if we’ll have snow for Christmas. (…) We must not rule out that next winter may also bring episodes of genuine winter, with abundant snow”, explained meteorologist Elena Mateescu, at Romania TV.
Temperatures below the climatological norms will dominate the first weeks of the interval November 25 – December 23, following which, gradually, the weather will become milder, within normal limits for the month of December.
According to meteorologists, in the mountains, the cold becomes piercing, and the weather conditions are downright extreme. The snow will be accompanied by blizzards, due to strong winds that can reach speeds of 90-100 km/h on the ridges.
According to meteorologists, in Brașov, Cluj and other cities in the north and center of the country, the snow and strong wind create an authentic winter landscape. In the southeast of the country, no precipitation is currently announced, but the temperatures are quite low.
In Bucharest, although the temperatures will drop gradually, no snow is announced in the first days of December.
