MADRIDThe Spanish economy does not lose its pulse. Between April and June this year, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the State grew by 0.8%, that is to say, the same as in the first three months of the year, according to this published Tuesday the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Compared to the same period a year ago, the economy grew by 2.9%, also according to the statistical body. Although these are provisional figures (INE will confirm them next month), they show how the Spanish economy continues to grow, which has forced most supervisory bodies, but also the Spanish government to review upward macroeconomic forecasts for this 2024.
The other good note of this second quarter is left by the prices. As published by the INE on Tuesday, general inflation fell to 2.8% in July, while underlying inflation also fell to 2.8%. Behind this good price performance is the decline in electricity and food. “There is still a lot of work to be done, but the reforms and measures are making it possible to maintain excellent macroeconomic data, which are also being transferred to micro data, improving the situation and the economic prospects of families and companies,” the minister assured of Economics, Carlos Cuerpo, this Tuesday.
