The implementation of the measures included in the traffic safety strategy in the capital continues. The maximum permitted speed is being changed in several places – when selecting the exact locations, they also took into account the number of incidents that could have been prevented at a lower speed in the given road sections in recent years.

The maximum permitted speed will change at the following locations:

  • on the section of Andrássy út between Oktogon and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út from the previous 50 km/h to 40 km/h;
  • on the section of Bécsi út between Vörösvári út and Reménység utca from 60 km/h to 50 km/h;
  • on the section of Váci út between Róbert Károly körút and Dózsa György út from 70 km/h to 50 km/h.

Regarding other locations, Budapest Transport Center initiates consultation with the districts concerned.

The speed limit is reduced in Budapest 2

After the introduction of the new speed limits, special attention is paid to the effects of the measures introduced on the affected road sections, the speed of those driving there is constantly measured, and the traffic is monitored. Investigations are currently underway on the section of Attila út between Mikó utca and Alagút utca, where speed reduction measures were introduced at the beginning of October.
