The start of production of “e-panda” is one of the most significant dates for the Serbian economy

THE BEGINNING of the production of the electric car “Fiat Grande Panda” in Kragujevac is one of the most significant dates for the Serbian economy in the last few decades, said Marko Čadež, president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).

Čadež, who was a guest on RTS, pointed out that what is coming to Serbia with the “electric panda” is technology, knowledge and revolutionary developments in the i-mobility sector (eMobility).

– This is a serious shift for us. Serbia is becoming one of the few countries on the map of electric vehicle manufacturers, and that is what should make us all happy. This will move Kragujevac and Serbia to a completely different level of development – assessed Čadež.

Today, he adds, Serbia is a country where a lot of things are produced for the automotive industry, which employs thousands of workers, and half of our exports to Germany are products related to “i-mobility”.

Čadež says that the whole project is much more than the impact on GDP, the investment itself or the export profit:

– First of all, this is a revolutionary star when it comes to moving the Serbian economy into the future, that is what is important and I would not look at it separately from other things that have been happening in Serbia for the last ten years – said Čadež.

Speaking about the growth of the Serbian economy, he emphasizes the importance of the recently signed free trade agreements with the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Egypt, in particular, the memorandum of the EU and Serbia on strategic raw materials, which, he says, will enable every step of implementation to be in accordance with European norms when it comes to environmental protection, consumer protection, food health…

He adds that the Olympics in France will also significantly contribute to the development of the domestic economy because, in addition to promoting our country at the “Serbian House” in Paris, PKS, together with the Government of Serbia and partners, will organize a business forum of Serbian and French companies, which, he says, have already expressed their desire to cooperate with domestic businessmen.
