AK Party Headquarters Women’s Branch President Ayşe Keşir visited the villages affected by the fire in the Göynük district of Bolu and met with the citizens.
Keşir visited the Umurlar village, which was evacuated as a precaution due to the forest fire that broke out in the Bekirfakılar village on August 15 and was brought under control after 72 hours with the intervention of the teams.
Keşir wished the forest and AFAD personnel and other officials who were resting here good luck and then met with the women in the village.
Keşir also visited the Dedeler village and the Ayvatlar Neighborhood of Bekirfakılar and received information about the fire from the citizens there.
Keşir listened to the women in the village about their experiences during and after the fire and conveyed his wishes for a speedy recovery to everyone.
Keşir said in his statement that as the MP of Düzce, the neighboring province of Bolu, they came to the region to say “get well soon” to those affected by the fire in Göynük and to the teams that worked to extinguish the fire.
Keşir stated that they saw that the state, especially the forestry organization, had been working wholeheartedly in the fire region since the first day, and that the citizens also thanked the state for this matter.
– “THIS IS A DIFFICULT REGION”
Keşir also said that they saw the fire approaching some villages and said, “Especially in this village, it got very close to the houses. In other words, it was a very short distance away. Our citizens rightfully feared for both their lives and property, and there was great fear at that moment. They say, ‘We lived through hell.’ When I spoke to our forestry organization, a forester brother of ours was caught in the fire during the extinguishing operation. In other words, he was saved at the last minute. That’s why this is a difficult region.”
Keşir, who stated that Ayvatlar Neighborhood in particular had escaped great danger, said, “Thank God, it was successfully extinguished without spreading to houses, barns or chicken coops. Of course, our citizens also say that it was affected by the wind. It spread very quickly when the wind blew in the opposite direction… I am here today as the regional representative to be with my fellow citizens and to ask them what is our duty from now on. Let’s consult them.”
Keşir, recalling that forest fires are currently continuing in different parts of Turkey, said:
“I would like to express my gratitude to everyone from all sides, both civil society organizations and different institutions of the state, especially the forest organization, who are here to manage the disaster. I would like to say my best wishes to all our citizens, and to our citizens in all regions. The Turkish nation comes together very quickly in times of disaster. At that moment, everyone tries to do their part even if they do not have a job description beforehand. You see this in the local people or in the civilian volunteers who come from outside. If there is a need for water, someone carries water. If there is a need for food, someone brings food. The women of this region are already Anatolian women, hardworking women. Whatever work needs to be done at that moment, our brothers run for it.”
