The story of Biden is starting to crack in his hometown

DThere’s a story going around in Wilmington, Delaware, that everyone in town knows Joe Biden.

“Everybody knows Joe”, as some locals put it – apparently everyone is on a first-name basis with the president. He is just another ‘Wilmingtonian’ among many.

There are so many places in Wilmington that have been named after Joe Biden that it would be strange if he didn’t come from the city.

On the way to the ordinary American city with 100,000 inhabitants, motorists on the highway can stop at a rest area called the Biden Welcome Center. If you take the train into town, it stops at Joseph R. Biden Jr. Railroad Station. ‘Amtrak Joe’ Biden was called for many years — a reference to the American state railway, Amtrak — because he commuted daily between the station and Washington, DC, after he became a senator in the 1970s. He still needs to have a statue erected in the city, but that sort of thing is usually only done when a person is dead.
