The studio that perpetrated The Day Before is back…

The Day Before was, undoubtedly, one of the most popular releases of last year. Unfortunately, yes, not for what its creators, and especially the players who had been waiting for it for a long time, would have wanted, but for quite the opposite. As you surely remember, its announcement in 2021 left everyone with their mouths open, since the first images that were shown were, simply, spectacular. And this, added to a very, very close release date (which, obviously, was later delayed several times), served to inflate one of the most remembered soufflés in the history of video games.

After several delays, The Day Before hit the market at the beginning of December last year, months after having published a trailer in which absolutely everything was several orders of magnitude below what was previously shownand with the studio, Fntastic, posting an apology on their social media two days before the release. Things really looked very bad… and finally it turned out to be even worse. So much so that the studio announced its closure a few days after launch.

One of the things we could read in Fntastic’s apology for The Day Before was that it was not a game created based on Unreal Engine assets, but the collective intelligence of the Internet took little time to compile all the necessary information to prove which, in reality, was exactly that. Among the sea of messages that were published about it, the most ingenious were (in my opinion) those that They pointed out that the title of the game also indicated when they had started developing it.

Thus, after such a disaster, we all thought that Fntastic was a thing of the past. However, to the general surprise, The studio that created The Day Before has returned to the fore, now with a project that it wants to finance with a crowdfunding campaign. The title in question is called Escape Factory, it has been published a Kickstarter And, yes, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be too easy, because after almost a day of campaigning, it has only managed to raise 406 of the 13,937 euros it needs to complete its financing goal.

In the campaign, yes, They admit their mistakes again and cry out for a second chance.. Furthermore, in his defense, it must be recognized that They have already published a playable demo of Escape Factory and Steamso that potential interested parties can now try it, instead of having to rely on trailers, since they do not have too much credibility. And, both from the budget and from the demo and what we can see on the Internet, it is evident that on this occasion they have aimed much lower, thus displaying a humility that they lacked, by far, with The Day Before.

Will you achieve your funding goal? It’s hard to know, actually. The first thing that comes to mind is that it is impossible, but on the other hand, we must not forget the business that began to be organized around The Day Before days after the studio closed. Whether by giving it a second chance, ironically or with the aspiration of being able to sell it for much more money in the future, We must not yet rule out the possibility that, finally, the Escape Factory financing campaign ends up being successful.a.
