The successor to the yet-to-be-released Falcon Shores already has a code name

It looks like there’s no need to worry, Intel isn’t giving up on its AI accelerator.

At the beginning of October, it was revealed that the Falcon Shores project will survive Intel’s reorganization, which is favorable in the light of the fact that Pat Gelsinger, the head of the company, admitted earlier that the development will not be able to compete with competitors for the time being. However, this does not matter, because the market for AI accelerators is so saturated that the hardware will definitely be able to be sold at a suitable price.

The Falcon Shores project will definitely arrive as a dedicated accelerator in 2026, and based on a recent article by HPCwire, it is already known that the successor, codenamed Jaguar Shores, is being prepared. However, there is no information on when this may be on the market, probably nearing the end of the decade.

What is certain is that Falcon Shores uses a completely new architecture, and Jaguar Shores is expected to be a further development of this.
