The team commander of the Ukrainian special forces was brought down: he was secretly a Russian spy

The man – whose name has not been released – was found to be commander of a special forces unit in the rank of lieutenant coloneland the Russians orchestrated it before full-scale war began in February 2022. “The aggressor was mostly interested in intelligence data on the sabotage and reconnaissance operations of the Ukrainian special forces behind the front line in the direction of Zaporizhzhya, Kherson and the Crimean peninsula,” the SZBU pointed out. He added that “as a result of the special operation, the military counter-intelligence service gradually documented the agent’s activities and then detained him. At the same time, comprehensive measures were taken to ensure the safety of the Ukrainian troops involved. During the house searches, encrypted communication and computing devices were seized from the detainee.

The man is suspected of treason committed during martial law, and if proven guilty, he may be sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Task Force Command added that it was aware of the investigation into the soldier and fully cooperated in its implementation.

Ukraine’s Border Guard Service responded to Russian media reports that Russian soldiers allegedly crossed the border in Chernihiv Oblast and planted the Russian flag on a bridge over the Sudost River near the village of Khremyach. Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman of the border guard, told the news portal Ukrainska Pravda that a Russian flag was indeed discovered on the bridge, but it is not true that Russian soldiers crossed the bridge.

Oleksandr Prokugyin, the governor of the southern Kherson county, informed that the Russian forces carried out a drone strike in the morning on the settlement of Antonyivka in the region, where a 74-year-old woman was killed as a result of the attack.

Anastasia Bobovnikova, spokeswoman for the “Luhansk” operational-tactical group, said in a TV program that fierce street fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops continues in Toreck, Donetsk countyand the Russian forces are regrouping new troops and military equipment in the direction of Siversk.

In the morning situation report, the General Staff wrote that all Russian attacks were repulsed near Kupyansk in Kharkiv County. The fiercest fighting continues to take place in the region of Pokrovsk and Kurahove in the Donetsk region.
