Cars were also produced in Zbrojovka in Brno between the world wars. The Technical Museum Brno exhibited 14 cars in the new exhibition Naše Zetky. It commemorates the 100th anniversary of the launch of the Disk car at the international exhibition in Brno. “It was the basis of a successful series that ensured Zbrojovce an unmissable position among Czech car manufacturers in the interwar period,” said curator Sylvie Zouharová Dyková in a press release.
“By organizing this exhibition, we primarily want to remind you that the city of Brno was famous in the past not only for textile factories and weapons production, but also for interesting and popular two-stroke cars,” added Zouharová Dyková.
Zetky was characterized by simplicity, low consumption and easy maintenance. “Thanks to these features, a relatively large number of manufactured cars have survived to the present day. The Technical Museum in Brno can be proud of the almost complete type series it has in its collections, including one of the two existing Disk cars from 1924,” described Zouharová Dyková.
Zbrojovka was dedicated to the design and production of cars only in the interwar period, yet it managed to launch several interesting types of cars on the market, including the folk car Z 6 called Hurvínek. It produced a total of 8,000 cars. The Kadrmas racing car, which was reconstructed by Jiří Kohlíček on the original Z 9 chassis according to contemporary sources, has its premiere at the exhibition.
The exhibition opens to the public on Wednesday. It will last until March 30 next year.
