The Royal Thai Army, represented by the 1st Artillery Regiment, King’s Guard (1st Artillery Regiment, King’s Guard), fired a 21-gun royal salute to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 60th Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024 at Sanam Luang.

While the Royal Thai Navy, represented by the 1st Infantry Battalion, Royal Guard, 1st Infantry Regiment, Marine Division, Marine Corps Command, fired a royal salute with 21 cannons to honor His Majesty.

The Air Force, represented by the Royal Guards Air Defense Regiment, Air Force Command, fired a 21-gun royal salute to honor His Majesty as well.

For the salute, it is a tradition that every country around the world has held on to since ancient times to show respect to the nation or person by firing a cannon with gunpowder or smokeless gunpowder with the number of rounds as a criterion according to the honor or the thing that should be respected.

At present, Thailand follows the principle that in the royal birthday ceremony, the royal ceremony Chatramongkhon or the birthday of the Queen or the Crown Prince, including welcoming the King or the head of state, a 21-gun salute will be fired to show the highest respect.
