There are still a few days left until the presidential election in the USA. We make a direct connection to America and talk to Indrek Lepik, a journalist from Äripää who is there.
Madis Aesma, editor of the magazine Imeline Tedus, musician and traveler, will come to the studio, with whom we will try to explore the soul of today’s America.
The morning program is hosted by presenter Neeme Korv and news editor Ken Rohelaan.
The program day continues with four programs:
11.00-12.00 “Business day on the air”. The show comments on topics that readers love.
These are, among other things, the terrible state of business on the Pärnu road in Tallinn, the alarming messages of the Economic Institute, hiring or not hiring a pensioner, asking for lower interest rates on home loans, and the show also lets you know who will win the US elections on Tuesday.
Journalists Linda Eensaar, Kristjan Pruul and Meelis Mandel are in the studio.
13.00-14.00 “Breakthrough”. Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, work has taken ERR TV journalist Anton Alekseev to Ukraine twenty times. More specifically, his destination there is the front lines, and the protagonists of the stories are Ukrainian soldiers.
In the program, we talk with a TV journalist about risking life and the effects of war on the psyche, the current mood of Ukrainians and the good Russians of Estonia.
The presenter is Eget Velleste.
15.00-16.00 “Health wise”. Nowadays, no one can do without a pharmacy – whether you are a patient or a doctor. Pharmacists are used to listening to the concerns of others, but what concerns do pharmacists have? In the show, pharmacist Karin Alamaa-Aas talks about generic drugs, drug prices and supply gaps, the impact of the economic depression and the incomplete pharmacy reform.
How are patients used to generic drugs, and is it always cheaper to take the drug from Varna? What changes are coming to drug markup? How far has the much-talked-about pharmacy reform been achieved and what do pharmacists expect from the state? These and many other questions will be answered in the show.
The presenters are Kadi Heinsalu, editor-in-chief of Meditsiniuudisti, and editor Ènne Puhk.
17.00–18.00 “Opinion leader of Äripää”.”. One of the key words of the last week was “mind control”. Such a term characterized the proposal of the social democrats to completely remove the right to vote from citizens of so-called third countries, they could be required to register for elections and, in the process, recognize Russia as an aggressor state.
Jevgeni Ossinovski, the vice-chairman of Sotsi and the mayor of Tallinn, says in the program that the plan, which has received a lot of criticism, is definitely not flawless, but it is still better than pushing aside all non-citizens. According to Ossinovski, it is partly because of the election results in Tallinn that some political forces are planning to deprive them of the right to vote.
The special feature of this US presidential election is the direct intervention of big businessmen such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in the campaign. According to Andres Kasekamp, a professor at the University of Toronto, criminals have previously contributed through donations, but something like Musk’s desire to make one candidate – Donald Trump – president and influence the policies of the future administration has not been seen before. We will summarize the campaign and talk about whether and how the events of the last few days may affect the result.
“What may have seemed okay in 1994 will no longer be so in 2024,” says Piret Potisepp, director of services at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the program. His article published in Äripää and attracted the attention of thousands of readers revealed that we have companies that give recruitment companies not qualifications and experience, but age and gender when finding employees. The potter finds it strange that some entrepreneurs do not consider obvious discrimination in employment relationships to be discrimination at all, but to set conditions. In the show, we discuss why such attitudes have arisen and how to resolve the situation.
The show was put together by Neeme Korv and Karl-Eduard Salumäe.
