SARAJEVO – After Serbia, shopping on Temu, a popular online store, is also possible in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). We checked how everything works.

When you go to the temu.com site, in the upper right corner, you choose which country you want to buy from. In addition to Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia, among the countries in the region, Bosnia and Herzegovina was also offered, which previously was not among the countries where it is possible to purchase and deliver products.

When you select Bosnia and Herzegovina, you will receive a notification that the page can be used in English. Then you need to register by entering your email address and create a password.

After creating your user profile, you can enter the delivery address of the purchased products, phone number, as well as information about the card with which you want to pay.

Unlike Serbia, where content is displayed in Serbian and prices are in dinars, the local language is not yet available for BiH and prices are in euros, not convertible marks (KM).

Currently, you cannot complete the order of the product if the value is not 20 or more euros, that is the minimum value of the product that you must buy.

For the order of seven products worth 20.41 euros, we immediately received a confirmation of payment and that the delivery time is from September 25 to October 9. If the delivery is delayed after October 9, we get two euros back.

Soon, a notification arrived that the products were being “collected” and that there was an 80 percent chance that they would be sent within two days.

It is possible to monitor the status of the order online, i.e. when the products are packed and when they are sent. The customer has the right to return the product if it is damaged or if it does not match what was ordered. In addition to paying by card, you can also pay via PayPal or Google Pay. We paid with a visa card, and you must confirm the transaction by entering the cvv code/number on the back of the payment card.

When shopping, they offer you coupons, for example, you get three euros for orders over 30 euros, seven euros for orders over 50 euros, and 10 euros for orders over 75 euros.

Phone app

If you want, you can also install the phone application, log in with your data, if you have previously created a user profile on the site, or create a profile through the application.

We remind you, as Bloomberg Adria wrote, Temu, an application for the sale of various products, from clothes to household items, has been available in Serbia since this year, after numerous European countries. It is very similar to AliExpress in its way of functioning and offer, but it is cheaper and faster than it.

Temu started conquering the Serbian market at the beginning of May, using a proven strategy – aggressive marketing and low prices. Thanks to this recipe, it quickly became popular with users around the world.

It has been on the world market since September 2022. After America, Temu started expanding in Australia and New Zealand in March 2023, and in April of the same year it arrived in Europe, where, at least according to the data they submitted to the European Commission, they have an average of 45 million users per month in the countries of the European Union. They have the most users in the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy.

According to the Marketplace Pulse survey, Temu has around 5,000 sellers and almost all of them are from China.

Ivan Tanasković, director of the E-commerce Association of Serbia, previously told Bloomberg Adria TV that Temu uses a similar strategy as AliExpress – lower prices and a wide range of products.

Tanasković adds that Temu cannot match local platforms in speed of delivery and quality of services. “However, the low price offered by Temu may attract customers who are willing to wait a little longer for delivery. Domestic platforms, on the other hand, have the advantage of faster delivery, better customer support, and overall security of purchase, which are important factors for domestic consumers”.

Tanasković says that Tem’s approach to invite producers from the West to join the platform is very interesting considering that such platforms did not have this practice before. He adds that it is also an opportunity for domestic entrepreneurs and producers to offer their products on this platform. Bloomberg Adria
