The transparent LG TV will be amazingly expensive –

The LG Signature OLED T is a smart TV with a transparent display that offers a futuristic look and a nice HUF 24 million price tag.

In January of this year, at the CES gadget expo, LG presented its Signature OLED T smart TV, the special feature of which is that its panel is transparent. Although it is not a completely new technology – Xiaomi has already sold such a display – LG’s solution stands out from the crowd.

The operation of the transparent display is quite impressive: you can really see through the panel, while it can display a high-quality moving image that creates a hologram-like effect. However, the LG Signature OLED T cannot be dimmed by itself. If one wants to enjoy traditional content, a layer of contrast film must be activated behind the panel with the push of a button to eliminate the transparency. This process is fast and spectacular, and the image quality is convincing even compared to traditional OLED technologies – although overall it falls short of the brightness and contrast of standard OLED TVs.

At last year’s CES, LG did not yet announce a price for the innovative TV, but it was recently revealed how much the Signature OLED T will cost when it goes on sale. However, the price of the transparent display is quite steep: it costs 60 thousand dollars, or approximately HUF 24 million.

The LG Signature OLED T is not made for the masses, rather it is positioned as an exclusive entertainment electronic device, which with its futuristic appearance can even be the central element of luxury apartments or design-oriented spaces. Although transparent displays are still in their infancy, LG’s move is a clear sign that the technology no longer exists only at the level of experiments, but is becoming a real market product.
