Yet, Serhan invested in Petrolul under 300,000 euros, as a loan, covering slightly less than ten percent of the estimated minimum amount necessary for Petrol to have a budget that would ensure its survival at a decent level in Romania’s first league.

Serhan left the country, but promised to stay close to the team and unlock another tranche of funds until things settle down at Petrolul. The Turk will return to Ploiesti in the next period, when the schedule allows. He has established a representative at the club, who holds the position of vice-president.

Petrolists had a poor start to the championship, marked by a 0-0 at home against Gloria Buzău, and a 1-4 away against Dinamo. Since the third stage, however, they are undefeated, with three equal results, all 0-0, and two victories.

“The Romanian league is much more competitive than it seems from the outside, the teams are balanced in terms of value and each one has the potential to win at any time. They are squads that have the ability to fight, that do not give up until the end, and I am convinced that the level of difficulty will increase every week, so every victory obtained will be really valuable”, a declared technician Mehmet Topal, in an interview for lpf.ro.
