The UCM does not know why it billed 102,848 euros

New twist of the Complutense University of Madrid Regarding the case of Begoña Gómez, the UCM asks the judge to investigate the trail of three invoices related to the chair awarded to Pedro’s wife. Specifically, the University points to the bidding of contracts and expenses incurred around the Extraordinary Chair for Competitive Social Transformation, about which the businesswoman has not provided information and which amount to a total of 102,848 euros.

According to the report sent to the Investigating Court Number 41 of Madrid, and to which Vozpópuli has had access, the UCM informs the instructor that the “lack of cooperation” of certain participantsamong which is Begoña Gómez herself, prevents access to more information regarding the destination and development of these funds. Information that could be key to the investigation led by Judge Peinado and that puts the accused on the ropes, in addition to the commission of an alleged crime of “misappropriation” after “indications” were found in an internal investigation by the Complutense.

Among the expenses that the public institution asks to track is the bill submitted by the company Making Science Group SA for the provision of the development and implementation service of the Transforma TSC Platform for the Extraordinary Chair of Competitive Social Transformation awarded to the wife of the Secretary General of the PSOE. The amount of this invoice amounts to 24,200 euros.

The report also mentions the existence of a minor contract whose object was the Consulting and Assistance Service for the School of Government-Chair of Competitive Social Transformation, for a total of 18,148.79 euros. Thirdly, for a value of 60.500 eurosa simplified open procedure is mentioned, the purpose of which was “Technical and technological assistance and advice for the creation of a management and impact measurement platform for Small and Medium Enterprises.”

Registration of two trademarks in the name of the businesswoman

The Complutense University’s change of direction comes after the instructor summoned its rector, Joaquín Goyache, to testify as a witness. After the “software case” hit the media, the University asked to appear in the case as a private prosecutor as a possible victim, a request that was rejected by the judge. As a result, the UCM opened an internal investigation “aimed at trying to determine whether there had been misappropriation of certain products that are understood to be ownership of this University (platform or software)”and which is now brought to the attention of the judge.

The activities initiated by the institution included the formulation of a request to the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, dependent on the Ministry of Industry, in order to find out if any trademark or patent was registered in the name of Begoña Gómez Fernández or the company Transforma Tsc SL. The result was to find out the existence of two brands in favor of the businesswomanof which – according to the document submitted to the court – the UCM was not aware until its publication in the media.

Begoña Gómez’s appointment before the judge

Similarly, and without the knowledge of the University, Begoña Gómez created the company Transforma TSC SL last November with which to strengthen ties with Ibex 35 companies. Specifically, this company served as a springboard for the creation of software created at zero cost by Indra, Telefonica and Google for the master’s degree co-directed by herself. These facts, included in the complaint filed by Hazte Oír, are being investigated by Judge Peinado, who will be able to hear the statements of the Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations of the Complutense University of Madrid, José María Coello, and his predecessor in the post, Juan Carlos Doadrio, on June 19.

That same day, Begoña Gómez herself will have to appear in the Plaza de Castilla courts to answer questions about the invoices reported by the Complutense University. Regarding this matter, the institution sent her an email on June 11 requesting the submission of documentation. The businesswoman’s response came a day later: “I inform you that I have received the email and I am gathering the information/documentation that you request from me in each of your questions.” Finally, to date, according to the report already in the hands of the judge, the UCM has not received any information.

In parallel, the instructor is following the trail of the relationship between Begoña Gómez and Carlos Barrabés. The Aragonese admitted to the judge last Monday that he met with the businesswoman in Moncloa, where he met up to two times with the President of the Government. After his statement, the Popular accusations brought to the case requested to the holder of the Court of Instruction Number 41 of Madrid to summon again to appear before the businessman Juan Carlos Barrabésbut this time as a suspect and not as a witness.
