So, I’m usually not nervousbut I felt like I was following Eminem in some way.” Then, linking precisely to the theme of nervousness, he said that he noticed that this time the palms of his hands were sweaty. It is from these words that he began to quote some verses from Lose Yourself.

“My palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already mom’s spaghetti. I’m nervous but on the surface I look clam and ready to drop bombs, but I keep on forgetting”.

These are the first lines of the song after the intro, which when translated become: “My hands are sweatyweak legs, heavy arms, I vomit mom’s spaghetti on my sweatshirt. I’m nervous but on the surface I seem calm and ready to drop bombs, but I keep forgetting.” The quote was immediately picked up by the public but Obama didn’t stop there. After quoting the verses he has in fact also improvised the melody of the song amidst the screams of the impressed audience and, after the deafening applause, he then joked: “I thought Eminem was going to perform and I was going to pop out“.

Before Obama’s nice little show, Eminem he was on stage to give a speech in which he gave his support for the Democratic candidate in the presidential elections to be held in November. “I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country in which this freedom and many others will be protected and supported” said the Detroit native rapper. Eminem then continued his speech by calling on all citizens of the state of Michigan to go and vote for Harris. “I’m here tonight for a couple of reasons. As many of you know, Detroit, my hometown, and Michigan mean a lot to me. Ahead of this election the spotlight is on us more than ever and I think it’s important to use your voice. So I’m encouraging everyone to please go out and vote“. The rapper then concluded: “I also think that people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinionsand I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retaliation or what people would do if their opinions were made public.”
