The wind raging in St. Petersburg knocked down trees and road signs

Roads in different areas were blocked.

In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, a strong wind raged all night, breaking branches and knocking down trees. Due to bad weather, some sections of roads were difficult, reports 78.ru with reference to eyewitnesses.

Thus, fallen trees blocked the Leninskoye-Simagino highway. Motorists also complained about a similar problem on the Vyborg highway. And on the Kadetskaya Line a road sign fell on the car.

Special equipment was sent out to clear the areas.

Note that wind gusts of 32 m/s were recorded at night. Due to bad weather, the bridges were not opened and the dam had to be closed; due to the threat of flooding in St. Petersburg, the navigation and culvert structures of the Protective Structures Complex were closed. A “yellow” level of weather danger has been introduced in the city on the Neva. Petersburg residents were asked not to go outside unless absolutely necessary, or at least to avoid trees and high-risk structures, which include bridges, overpasses and power lines.
