A traditional team from the Romanian championship struck on the very last day of 2024 and made the winter move.

Adrian Mutu is the new coach at Petrolul Ploiești
Petrolul Ploiești was left without a head coach after what Mehmet Topal resigned. The Prahov team moved quickly and already found a replacement. The “yellow wolves” officially announced the arrival of Adrian Mutu, who signed a contract valid until 2026.
“Officially, Adrian Mutu is the new head coach of our team! The former international great thus takes over the technical leadership of the “wolves”, signing a contract with FC Petrolul Ploiești that will last until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Adrian Mutu will meet his new students on January 3, the day Petrol will leave for the training camp in Antalya, and he will have as collaborators in the technical staff Bogdan Pătrașcu, Florin Stângă (secondary coaches), Cătălin Grigore (goalkeeper coach ) and Laurentiu Marinescu (physical trainer).
At the age of 45, Adrian Mutu thus returns to FC Petrolul, almost 11 years away from the moment when he wore the “yellow-blue” shirt as a player. Holders of the Romanian Cup at that time, Petrolul represented, in January 2014, a new milestone in an impressive career, and the “Brilliant” would reward the “wolves” fans with some unforgettable moments, such as the developments in the matches with Victoria Pilsen.
