The world’s first tri-folding phone comes with huge repair costs

If you plan to buy the impressive HUAWEI Mate XT at some point, be very careful how you handle it in your daily life: repair costs are extremely high.

HUAWEI recently announced the world’s first smartphone with a triple foldable screen, the Mate XT Ultimate Design. This device is technologically unique and demonstrates the company’s ability to innovate.

However, the high price of the phone is not the only expensive aspect that users have to consider before a possible purchase.

Repair costs

If the price of the phone seems excessive to you, the amount you will have to pay for its repairs will raise at least one eyebrow. That’s if you don’t get a headache first.

According to the official list published by the Chinese company, replacing the screen will cost approximately 1,019 euros. There is, however, a limited offer that allows it to be replaced at a price of 892 euros if the old display is recycled.

Customers can prepay €500 for a free screen replacement service within one year of purchase.

Other expensive components

If the motherboard needs to be replaced with another one, the cost reaches 1,160 euros. On the other hand, replacing the battery is much more affordable, costing only 63 euros.

Other phone components also have high repair prices. For example, the back cover with the camera lens costs 175 euros, and the telephoto camera can be replaced for 73 euros.

What does all this mean for users?

Given the high costs of both purchasing and potentially repairing the new phone, users will need to be extremely careful how they use this device.

The screen and motherboard, in particular, are the most fragile components and replacing them will leave you deep in your pocket.

Despite these staggering costs, HUAWEI launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design as a premium device aimed at those who want a unique and innovative phone.
