A youth named Amjad Hossain Babu (15) died after losing control and falling from the motorcycle in Amirabad, Lohagara.
The accident took place on Saturday (September 21) around 2.30 pm in the area adjacent to Rajghata Bridge of Union on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway. Son of Abul Kashem Prakash Kalu Mikar of North Harina Chowdhury ward of Adhunagar Union of Babu Upazila.
Eyewitness Abu Mohammad Yusuf said that two motorcycles raced from Padua in the upazila towards Cox’s Bazar. On reaching the spot due to carelessness while overtaking another motorcycle: Babu fell from the motorcycle.
At that time, a CNG autorickshaw speeding in the same direction hit him. Babu was seriously injured. Locals rescued him and took him to a private hospital in Upazila Sadar where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Local UP member Mohammad Abul Hasan confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Amjad Hossain Babu has just completed Quran memorization. The body of the deceased is being prepared for burial.
