Luke Littler, a young Englishman, became the world champion in darts. The still only 17-year-old super talent defeated the Dutch legend and three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen in the final 7:3 in sets.
Littler appeared in the final a year ago, but compatriot Luke Humphries was beyond his strength at that time, who won 7:4.
The English teenager converted his second attempt at the Alexandra Palace to the title in a sovereign way, when he allowed his opponent to win the first set at the score of 4:0 and did not let him in sight.
Littler took over the position of the youngest world champion from his final opponent, who was 24 years old at the time of his first triumph in 2014.
Currently, the 35-year-old Van Gerwen remains on three championship titles.
The Englishman set the tone of the duel from the beginning, he scored an average of 102.7 on three darts, his opponent had 100.7. Littler closed excellently with a success rate of 55.5 percent, Van Gerwen managed only 36.8 percent.
