Theft from Stefan Raab: Investigators continue to grope in the dark

Almost two months after a theft while filming Stefan Raab’s new show in Cologne, investigators are in the dark. According to the public prosecutor’s office, there has so far been “no concrete evidence” of a perpetrator. “However, the public prosecutor’s office will check whether there are still promising investigative approaches to clarify the facts,” said a spokesman for the authority when asked.

Raab made the theft public at the end of September on his show “You won’t win a million here with Stefan Raab” (RTL+). He reported that a hidden camera in front of a flower shop was stolen during one of his shoots. The crime scene was downtown Cologne.

Despite the Raab ultimatum, no return

Raab also gave the perpetrator an ultimatum. “The thing will be back here in two days!” he demanded. Then you are ready to say “don’t worry about it”. The moderator also suggested that incriminating material had been recorded with another camera. The case was no longer discussed in a later broadcast. When asked, an RTL spokesman said: “Raab Entertainment does not want to comment on the matter.”

The police had started an official investigation at the time. This happens when no report is received – but a significant crime becomes known elsewhere. Like the RTL+ show. The police have now handed over the case against unknown persons to the Cologne public prosecutor’s office. They can close the file if there are no more avenues for investigation. If that changes subsequently, the process could be restarted.
