Then you need to do these seven things

The Tax Agency has once again gone out and shared information with the public.

From time to time, the authority shares information, calls and clear warnings for the Swedish people to take advantage of. It could, for example, be about when the declaration must be submitted, when the residual tax must be paid or whether you should watch out for frauds that are rampant.

The fraudster deceives you in the name of the Swedish Tax Agency

Not infrequently, the warnings are directed at private individuals due to the increased number of frauds that have taken hold of Sweden.

In October, being man because a new type of fraud took off. At that time, it was the case that they pretend to represent the Swedish Tax Agency, but in fact they want to trick you into sensitive and private information, such as account details.

News24 then wrote about the warning, which included, among other things, fake mailings where you had to fill out a form to get tax refunds paid out. Fraudsters also created fake websites that stated that the page was not working, whereupon you were asked to click on a link, which is in fact controlled by fraudsters.

The Swedish Tax Agency: “We have collected concrete things”

In addition to warning you and others about the sly tricks of fraudsters, the Swedish Tax Agency also provides practical and necessary information.

On October 31, they took the opportunity to do it again.

This time it is addressed to all those who have lost a family member or other relative. There are some things that are important to do, even if the grief is very present.

“Losing a loved one is often emotionally upsetting. For many, it can be difficult to have to deal with practical matters surrounding the death. We have collected concrete things to think about for those of you who have lost someone close to you,” writes the Swedish Tax Agency on its homepage.

1. Report a new address for the estate

The address that was current at the time of death needs to be changed. The authority sends out a form when the death is registered in the population registration database.

2. Register a declaration agent

The co-owners in the estate are the ones responsible for the estate’s income declaration. Co-owners are usually you who are the next of kin or a representative who has been appointed.

3. Make a will

Those who are part of the estate need to make a will. You then need to go through everything and make a written summary of the deceased’s assets and liabilities. An estate record is then the estate’s identification document, which shows who has the right to represent the estate.

4. Declare for an estate

The estate also has an income declaration that must be taken care of. When someone dies, the co-owners of the estate or the representative who has been appointed are responsible for it. All income during the income year must be reported in the estate.

5. Review the estate’s final tax statement

Once the authority makes a decision on the final tax on the estate, a final tax notice is sent to the estate.

6. Arrange a funeral within a month

Burial or cremation of a dead person must take place within one month of the death. If the deceased is cremated, the settlement must take place within one year. In order for cremation or burial to be carried out, a certificate from the Tax Agency is required, which the funeral home orders from the church.

7. Finalize the estate

When all of the above is completed, the estate needs to be closed. An estate is closed for tax purposes when all assets are divided and transferred. Usually, an estate is finalized the year after the death.
