We will have a “battle of the titans” this year in the smartphone marketas both Apple and Samsung are set to release thinner high-end smartphones, and today a new report out of Korea brings us a few more details about them.
The iPhone 17 Air will replace the iPhone 16 Plus, as the Plus model in the series has been the worst seller for years. Interestingly, however, that the iPhone 17 Air is now rumored to cost around the same as the iPhone 16 Plus – so you won’t really have to pay a huge premium for this option of yours.
Speaking of which, the report goes on to argue that the iPhone 17 Air will be 6.25 mm thick, which is thicker than we had previously heard. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Slimon the other hand, will be just over 6mm thick, so we’re guessing about 6.5 millimeters.
This famous Slim model is expected to be unveiled at Samsung’s next Unpacked event later this month, but it won’t be available for a few months. Apple’s iPhone 17 Air will launch alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 family in September.
Samsung reportedly rushed development of the Galaxy S25 Slim after learning about Apple’s plans for the iPhone 17 Air. The Galaxy S25 Slim is said to be cheaper than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and we assume it could be a mid-range proposition between the flagship model and the Galaxy S25+ in terms of price.
