Türkiye is taking important steps towards strengthening its charging infrastructure, along with the increasing popularity of electric vehicles in the automotive industry. However, Electricity Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) The latest data announced by the company reveals that the number of electric car charging sockets across the country is insufficient.
EMRAAccording to the report of , there are a total of 23 thousand 377 electric car charging sockets across Turkey. While 14 thousand 543 of these sockets provide AC (Alternating Current) charging support, 8 thousand 834 of them provide DC (Direct Current) charging support. However, it is stated that these numbers are far from meeting the increasing demand for electric vehicles. In particular, it is emphasized that only 20 percent of all electric cars in Turkey have a charging infrastructure that can meet their needs.
Charging problem continues in electric cars: There is 1 socket for every 5 cars
Experts argue that rapid solutions should be produced to develop Turkey’s charging infrastructure. The spread of electric vehicles will contribute to both increasing environmentally friendly transportation options and ensuring energy efficiency. However, the lack of sufficient charging stations poses a major obstacle for potential users. Apart from the charging systems that people install in their own homes, more charging stations are needed in public areas.
State-supported projects and private sector investments are also gaining importance in order to encourage the use of electric cars. It is stated that local governments should create a sustainable transportation network by taking charging stations into account in their city planning. Additionally, the development of mobile applications that will facilitate electric vehicle users’ access to charging stations may be an important step.
