DAPURPACUID – The development of vehicle technology, especially motorbikes, has triggered manufacturers to continue to provide the latest innovations that make it easier for drivers.
In the Honda motorbike line, for example, several model lines have been equipped with a smart key feature, aka Smart Key System, to replace conventional model keys.
The series of models that include this feature include Scoopy, Vario 160, ADV 160, PCX160, and the most recent one is the Honda BeAT.
The Honda Smart Key System is a feature that is much sought after by consumers, especially automatic users in Indonesia. This feature makes it easier to operate the motorbike without a key.
However, there are times when it is difficult to turn the smart key lock knob. Before rushing to take your motorbike to the repair shop, there are several things you can check yourself to find out the cause.
The following are light tips reported by PT Wahanaartha Ritelindo, regarding the first steps that need to be taken to check for problems with the smart key knob.
Check Remote Battery
One of the main reasons why the smart key knob cannot be turned is a weak or damaged remote battery. Make sure to check the condition of the remote batteries first.
One of the signs of a weak remote battery is that the indicator light is dim, or the range of the remote is short, which means you have to be really close to the motorbike so that the keyless can be activated.
Use the Suggested Remote.
This step is to ensure whether there is damage to the remote. If even using a spare remote doesn’t make the ignition work, check the next step.
Check Battery Condition
Other problems can come from a weak or dead motorbike battery. A battery that doesn’t have enough power can cause the motorbike to not start even though the remote is functioning properly.
For this reason, make sure the motorbike battery is in good condition. If the motorbike has not been used for a long time, make sure to press the remote button until the indicator light turns red.
Wahanaartha Ritelindo Regional I Coordinator, Alex Justian, said that this step was taken to disconnect the connection between the remote and the battery, so that the battery does not drop easily.
“When the motorbike is not in use, press the remote until it turns red, so that the battery doesn’t drop easily. “If the color of the light on the key is still green, that indicates that it is still connected to the battery,” he said.
By checking these two things, you can avoid more serious damage and of course don’t need to immediately transport the motorbike to a repair shop.
Check the remote battery and battery condition. If conditions are still difficult to start the motorbike due to a problem with the Honda Smart Key System, immediately visit the nearest AHASS.
