Croatian police sounds the alarm. She informed that cases of enraged dogs attacking people began to increase in the country. In a few days, they register several incidents.

Multiple attacks

On Friday, a dog ran away from a 44-year-old man on the island of Iž and slightly injured a small child. A few days later, a dog attacked a 77-year-old woman. She didn’t have him on the lead.

On the island of Pag, a dog injured a minor vacationer. The owners of all the dogs are now being investigated by the police and will not avoid a fine. Not even a 55-year-old man, whose five dogs wandered unsupervised on the road in the Gračac area, can avoid it.

Police warning

The local police therefore decided to warn vacationers and locals alike. She urged dog owners to keep a close eye on their animals and not let them loose.

“In addition to the obligation to keep animals in reasonable conditions and provide them with the opportunity to move, owners are also obliged to take certain safety measures so that their pets do not threaten people and other animals,” the Croatian police clarified.

The law enforcement officers further added: “When walking, owners should therefore keep dogs on a lead to limit the animal’s free movement and prevent possible attacks on other animals or people, especially children. Also, if it is a dangerous or potentially dangerous dog, it must also be muzzled when it is taken out into public space.”
