Austrian Prime Minister and Center-Right People’s Party (ÖVP) Chairman Karl Nehammer announced that their coalition talks with the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) ended in failure.
In the video message he shared on his social media account
blamed the opposition
Stating that they have terminated the coalition negotiations as the ÖVP, Nehammer stated that they will not continue the negotiations as the People’s Party, and claimed that the non-constructive groups within the SPÖ have gained power in the party, and that his party will not sign any program that is anti-economy, welfare and productivity.
Nehammer explained that his party ran an election campaign that emphasized efficiency, family and security issues and opposed the inheritance tax from the beginning.
Noting that there was no success in the meeting with the SPÖ, Nehammer argued that the political approach was to strengthen the center and take an attitude against extremist and separatist structures.
