Due to the holy Ashura, there will be no program for the protesting students demanding quota reform on Wednesday. However, the anti-discrimination student movement has announced that the movement will continue.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced this at the VC premises of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday night.
Hasnat Abdullah said, ‘State-sponsored attacks have been carried out on protesters across the country. Our movement will continue until the demands are met.
According to the pre-announced program, protest marches and rallies were to be held in university campuses across the country on Wednesday in protest of the BLA’s attack on students last Monday and a one-point demand for quota reform. But on this day, Chhatra League has already taken position in different areas. Jubo League workers also joined Chhatra League on this day.
Chhatra League and Jubo League activists attacked students across the country including Dhaka. This led to clashes with students in Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Jagannath University, Jahangirnagar University, Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, Rajshahi University in different parts of the country. 6 people died in the clashes across the country including Dhaka.
On this day, news of the death of a student in police firing came from Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur at noon. After that 3 people including students were reported dead in Chittagong. On the other hand, two deaths were reported in Dhaka College and City College area in the evening.
