The executive led by Luís Montenegro approved this Tuesday a plan to open 23 new citizen shops in various locations across the country. The goal is to reach 95 by 2026. The Government has not yet provided a complete list of the municipalities that will receive these spaces intended for the public service of various public and private services, since, according to an official source, there are still applications under consideration, so there is no definitive list.
For now, the Renaissance found out that they are in the process of build new stores in municipalities such as Barrancos, Bombarral, Constância, Ribeira de Pena or Tondela.
There are still ongoing contracting procedures in locations such as Vouzela, Vila Franca de Xira or Alijó.
AMA expected to open 20 new stores in 2023 by the end of 2026
The Agency for Administrative Modernization had already advertised through its websiteem 2023, “the opening of 20 new citizen shops, 300 Citizen Spaces and 10 Mobile Spaces” until “the end of the year 2026”.
At the time, it became known that nineteen municipalities submitted applications to open new stores:
Some of these municipalities are part of the (partial) list to which the Renaissance had access.
The AMA then explained that “the aforementioned applications are included within the scope of the Notice aimed at municipalities to submit applications for the opening of new Citizens’ Shops benefiting from the financing of European funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP)“.
