There’s a new supercar with a Flat-Six engine, but it’s not a Porsche

The Californian company Oilstainlab – founded by automotive designer twin brothers Nikita and Iliya Bridan, with past experience at Canoo, GAC and Honda – recently unveiled a new supercar with 6-cylinder Boxer engine.

Is called HF-11 and, according to what was declared by the company, it will debut in 2026 and will be purchasable for the princely sum of 1.85 million dollars (over 2 million euros at the current exchange rate). Here are the first details.

An almost unique car

The HF-11 is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive super sports car that, on paper, weighs less than a Mazda MX-5 but has three and a half times more power. The latter, in particular, is generated by a naturally aspirated 6-cylinder Boxer engine 4.5 liters e 650 CVcapable of operating up to 12,000 rpm, combined with a manual transmission six-speed or a seven-speed sequential gearbox.

Some might think that it is an engine of Porsche origin, but during the presentation the two twin brothers who founded the company confirmed to Car and Driver which does not come from Zuffenhausen.

If you are wondering dimensionsthe HF-11 is long 4.31 meters2.03 meters wide and 1.12 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.71 meters and has a bodywork built entirely in carbon fibre, mounted on a monocoque made of the same material.

The technical data sheet then talks about suspensions pushrod with adjustable Ohlins shock absorbers and 45:55 weight distribution. There is also a front braking system with six-piston calipers and 394 mm discs and a rear with four-piston calipers and 390 mm discs, together with a limited slip differential and spectacular butterfly doors.

Maybe even aluminum

According to what was specified by the company, the designers are currently thinking of also creating a version with aluminum bodywork beaten by hand, which however will only happen if they manage to find the right person for the manual work.

Alongside this, a track-only variant could also arrive in the future, featuring 18-inch wheels on both axles and Michelin Pilot Sport Legends slick tyres. The road model, however, will have 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres.

There will also be electric

In addition to the six-cylinder engine, Oilstainlab is developing the HF-11 to also accommodate a fully electric powertrain.

The latter should be able to develop, according to initial information, up to 860 CV of power, with a cost probably at least 455,000 euros higher than the petrol model.

After the official presentation, the next step will be the launch of a prototype operational during spring 2025, which will precede the start of limited pre-production.
