As the best fast food in the world finally arrives in France, we delve back into our childhood at McDonald’s, and in particular in the first thing wewe looked while opening our Happy Meal: the gift! The toys from the children’s menu have delighted several generations of toddlers hungry for fries but especially for figurines bearing the image of their favorite characters, like Barbie or Inspector Gadget. Between the 1990s and 2000s, McDonald’s offered more than 10 different Barbie models in its Happy Meal. Some have become collector’s items!

The collection from the film Muppets’ Treasure Island, released in 1996, had much more for children: in fact, these toys could change color upon contact with water!

Tamagotchi, these little Japanese virtual pets created at the end of the 90s, were very popular in playgrounds at the beginning of the century… And what’s better than winning your own with a Happy Meal?
#6 Inspector Gadget
First appearing in a cartoon in the 80’s, Inspector Gadget is a cyber-police officer with many gadgets directly integrated into his body (but much more fun and clumsy than Robocop). The Happy Meal toy in spare parts, available in the 90s, is today a real gem in the eyes of collectors!

In the 1990s, we could find in our Happy Meal Disney figurines from studio classics thanks to the fashion for VHS cassettes… The great era!
#9 The Tiny Toons
The famous cars of Tiny Toons were, unsurprisingly, found in the Happy Meals of kids (and their nostalgic parents) in the 90s, and had the particularity of being interchangeable. 2-in-1 figurines like we don’t make anymore!
#10 Cards Pokémon
Figurines, cards, soft toys… For more than ten years, Pokémon are real stars at McDonalds. The collaboration between the two brands is not ready to stop, but some toys will never return in your Happy Meal!
