In some way, all anime is epic. It’s part of the genre. The characters are often otherworldly, inhumanly strong, or downright crazy. But every now and then, there are anime that manage to do it perfectly. The creators manage to develop incredibly well-crafted characters and tell stories that are so gripping that they result in scenes of great emotional intensity, that will give you uncontrollable goosebumps! Here is a list of anime scenes that have certainly left us speechless!

I’ll silence you, Envy! By burning every part of your body to ashes, starting with your tongue!
The death of Maes Hughes was difficult for everyone on the Fullmetal Alchemist team, especially his best friend, Roy Mustang. Maes was killed when the shapeshifting homunculus, Envy, took the form of Maes’ wife and killed him. Maes was a happy, fun-loving family man, and this eventually became his downfall, as he could not harm his “wife”.
However, it all ended in the cavern below Central when Roy Mustang was able to exact his revenge on that savage homunculus that is Envy. This scene proves that revenge is certainly rewarding, but often violent. Mustang is the star here, and his evolution goes far beyond his ambitious personality. The description of his master plan is flawless, and all the twists and turns are really effective thanks to the writing and the staging.
One Piece – Luffy Declares War on the World Government
Often cited among the greatest arcs of One Piecethe Water Seven arc is full of scenes, each more iconic than the last. As epic as it is moving, it shows us a crew more divided than ever. – by the departure of Usopp and that of Nico Robin. But the crew will come out of these trials stronger: both more solid and stronger.
We could have mentioned the monstrous fight between Monkey D. Luffy and Rob Lucci, but we preferred to focus on THE scene that comes to everyone’s mind when we talk about this narrative arc: Nico Robin in tears confesses to Luffy that she wants to live. Her captain asks Sniper King to burn the World Government flag. This act of war, in addition to showing the courage of the Straw Hat, allows Eiichiro Oda to put his foot in it: the manga One Piece can only end with a final confrontation between Luffy and the World Government, which has taken up more and more space over the course of the story.

The best example of Goku’s talent for pushing boundaries occurred during the fight against Frieza. When the vindictive alien killed Krillin, it infuriated Goku. He was shaking with anger, which caused him to transform into a Super Saiyan. It’s an iconic moment, one that fans have remembered for decades.

Erwin Smith was the commander of the Survey Corps. Insightful, intelligent, and highly respected, Erwin was an incredibly talented commander. Although deeply attached to his men, he does not hesitate to sacrifice them for the good and prosperity of humanity, and his men prove more than willing to risk their lives at his command.. Moreover, under his leadership, the Exploration Battalion managed to uncover many secrets.
However, before Erwin could find the answer to his greatest question, he had to sacrifice his life. Upon returning to Shiganshina, Erwin and the Survey Corps had to face the threat of the Beast Titan. MDespite certain death, Erwin manages to cheer up his comrades by delivering one of the greatest speeches of all time. An episode full of emotions, tragedy, despair, sacrifices and difficult decisions, all for a glimmer of hope. The story, the animation, the dubbing, the music, everything is up to par and makes this scene truly exceptional.
hunter x hunter – gon unleashes his power
If there’s one thing Hunter X Hunter never seems to lack, it’s epic fights. The Kimera Ants Arc features several sinister characters, with Pitou arguably being the worst of the worst. In this scene, Gon learns that Pitou killed and possessed his mentor, Kite. As a result, Gon’s rage grows until he transforms into Adult Gon and cuts his lifespan in half.
It was hard to pick the most memorable moment among Gon Freecss’ tantrums, as he tends to fly off the handle when his friends are in danger. However, This scene reveals Gon’s true power, as well as the affection he had for Kite..
Cowboy bebop – bang !
In this epic scene, Spike splits up with Team Bebop to finish his war against Vicious—the current leader of Spike’s former gang, the Red Dragon. Throughout the fight, Spike’s vision is torn between the enemies he faces and the images of the past he can’t escape. These transitions are a callback to Spike’s reveal that one of his eyes is a fake, having been lost in an incident long ago. After the final confrontation with Vicious, Spike’s fake eye is bloodied and closed, indicating that he has sealed his past by avenging his love, Julia. As Spike limps out of Syndicate headquarters, he is greeted by dozens of heavily armed gang members. He is seriously injured and, before collapsing, he makes a gun gesture with his hand accompanied by the famous line “Bang!” which will remain etched in the annals and one of the coolest anime moments of all time.
Little is revealed about Spike throughout the series, as he is a mysterious, gun-wielding space bounty hunter. However, when some information is finally revealed to the audience, They set up a fantastic sequence of events that make for a truly epic ending to an equally epic series.. One Piece – Zoro: “Nothing, nothing happened”
Roronoa Zoro is a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. His goal is to become the strongest swordsman in the world. Zoro is extremely devoted to his captain, Monkey D. Luffy. During the Thriller Bark arc, when Bartholomew Kuma was about to kill Luffy, Zoro offered to receive all of Luffy’s pain. Zoro’s entire body is then broken and there is blood everywhere.
When Sanji regains consciousness and asks Zoro what happened, Zoro simply replies, “Nothing happened.” Zoro is a fan favorite, but this is the episode that took him to a new level. Zoro was willing to die for Luffy by suffering for him and absorbing much of his pain. His determination, confidence, bravery, heroism and loyalty show that we, as people, must go above and beyond to help others, not ourselves. The fact that Zoro said nothing happened and that no one but Sanji knew had an even bigger impact.
Attack on Titan – Eren’s mother gets eaten before his eyes
The Titans break through the outer wall and enter Eren’s neighborhood, where he does what any child his age would do in times of chaos: he runs home to find his mother. When he arrives, she is trapped under a wooden beam and he can do nothing to save her. A soldier arrives and Eren’s mother implores him to get the children to safety as a Titan is approaching. Frightened, the soldier has no choice but to listen to Eren’s mother’s last words and escapes with the children, throwing Eren over his shoulder and forcing the child to watch as this Titan clears the debris with ease, lifts his mother like an insect, and eats her without any remorse.
It is said that the first (primal) fear of man is to be eaten, to be helpless and devoured by our predators. It is painful to witness a death, especially that of a loved one. So, if this scene does not make you shudder, you may not even be human…
