The Guardian calls it “Glastonbury (the world’s second-largest open-air music festival) for geeks.” The New York Times calls it “the grand conclave of the tech industry’s high priests.” Politico calls it “the world’s premier tech conference.” Whatever the definition, it has a stage in Portugal for the ninth time in 16 editions.
Web Summit 2024 is scheduled to start on Monday, November 11th, with a full agenda until Thursday. Parque das Nações is preparing to receive more than 70 thousand visitors and a record number of startups: more than three thousand, coming from 160 countries, to explore business opportunities with an international audience.
Among new stages, new faces and new projects, the conference once again brings together “masterminds” from the business world to discuss key current topics, such as the impact of artificial intelligence and the role of the European Union or the State in regulating technology . Also under debate will be the current challenges in terms of venture capital.
One of the new features of this 16th edition is the return of Paddy Cosgrave to the leadership of the Web Summit. The Irishman was forced to step down as CEO just days before the event began in Lisbon to try to save his reputation, following several comments about the Israeli offensive in Gaza. In April of this year, he announced his return.
