These are the serious security errors that are solved

Apple has released iOS 18.1.1 for the iPhone by surprise, as all eyes are on iOS 18.2, which should be released in early December. This is a minor update, as the version number suggests, so we will not find any important new features beyond those seen in iOS 18.1. But That doesn’t mean iOS 18.1.1 isn’t important.

These types of updates are very necessary and indicate that Apple is always working to solve security problems. According to Apple itself reports, important vulnerabilities have been fixed that could have been actively exploited.

iOS 18.1.1 fixes these security bugs

iOS 18.1.1, iPadOS 18.1.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 patch two vulnerabilities that affect WebKit and JavaScriptCore, so we recommend installing these updates on your iPhone, iPad and Mac as soon as possible. These two serious errors have been discovered by Google’s Threat Analysis Group. This is how Apple describes them:

JavaScriptCore

• Available for: iPhone , and iPad mini 5th generation and later.
• Impact– Processing maliciously crafted web content can lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited on Intel-based Mac systems.
• Description– The issue was fixed by improving the checks.
• WebKit Bugzilla: 283063.
• CVE-2024-44308: Clément Lecigne and Benoît Sevens of the Google Threat Analysis Group.

WebKit

• Available for: iPhone , and iPad mini 5th generation and later.
• Impact– Processing maliciously crafted web content can lead to a cross-site scripting attack. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited on Intel-based Mac systems.
• Description– A cookie management issue was fixed by improving state management.
• WebKit Bugzilla: 283095.
• CVE-2024-44309: Clément Lecigne and Benoît Sevens of the Google Threat Analysis Group.

It is possible that iOS 18.1.1 also fixes other errors that have been found in the system. But just because of these security problems that are solved, It is worth installing it as soon as possible on the iPhone. In the same way as happens with iPadOS and macOS updates.
