Sky has announced its new program highlights for December. This includes its own Christmas channel.
While the event series “Dune: Prophecy”, the prequel to the power struggle for the desert planet, starts on Sky in November, the next HBO format is already in the starting blocks. “The Franchise” takes a satirical look behind the scenes of today’s superhero pop culture. The first, eight-episode season of the series deals with the chaotic filming of a new comic book adaptation and will be available in this country from December 6th on Sky Atlantic and via Sky and Wow to watch on demand.
Three days later, Sky One shows the German reality TV special “These Ochsenknechts celebrate Christmas”, which DIGITAL TELEVISION had previously reported on. Jochen Schropp will moderate this for Sky for the first time and look at their Christmas traditions with the Ochsenknecht family. In addition, fans of the clan can look forward to a preview of the fourth season of “These Ochsenknechts”.
Sky Cinema Christmas and Sky Cinema Best Of 2024 launch in December
In any case, Christmas is a focus of the December program Pay TV provider. Sky announced on Friday the upcoming launch of two new topic channels that will temporarily take the place of other channels. At these points, however, you can expect less brand-new films and series, but rather more thematic curation and bundling. So Sky Cinema Family will transform into “Sky Cinema Christmas” on December 16th. You can then watch various Christmas films on the channel. The announced titles include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” its prequel “Wonka,” “Home Alone,” “The Grinch” and “The Polar Express.” In addition to being broadcast on Sky Cinema Family or Sky Cinema Christmas, the films can also be streamed on demand.
Sky is also announcing the channel “Sky Cinema Best Of 2024”, which will take over the Sky Cinema Highlights program slot from December 12th. Sky looks back on selected film highlights from the past two years. Among other things, the horror film “Saw X”, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”, “Dune: Part Two” and “Oppenheimer” are shown on the channel.
Friends of dark cinema can also see the third part of the “A Quiet Place” series on Sky from December 20th. You can read about why “Day One”, as the title says, is the strongest part of the series so far in the review from DIGITAL TELEVISION. On December 27th, Sky will also add the fantastic horror film “They See You” to its portfolio. The mystery story should also be interesting for fans of reality TV, which is treated as a scary caricature in the film. DIGITAL TELEVISION has also published a detailed review on this.
