These industries are most affected by automation and AI

Although many predict that artificial intelligence will become extremely important everywhere, there are some industries that will be more affected by automation and AI than others.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) expects that due to of AI and automation globally will be created 170 million new jobs (equivalent to 14% of the global workforce).

At the same time, they expect that 92 million will disappear. jobs (8% of the total workforce), so that 78 million will be created globally. new jobs until 2030.

It shows a brand new report”Future of Jobs Report 2025” from the WEF, where they also come up with a proposal on how the various industries will be affected by automation and increased use of artificial intelligence.

In particular, the real estate and service industry as well as the public sector and education sector will largely change from manual to automated workflows over the next five years.

“While the majority of work processes in e.g. the public sector is still manual today, it is expected that 2 out of 3 tasks will be more or less automated already in five years due to AI. So we are going to see a huge change in the way you work and in relation to the tools you use in everyday life,” says Natasha Friis Saxberg, managing director. director in the IT branch.

In particular, there are high expectations for the use of the so-called AI agents, as they can be used for everything from answering citizen/customer questions, providing more personal service and decision support to intelligent journaling, control and continuous production optimization.

Denmark lags behind

Unfortunately, Denmark and the Nordic countries are lagging behind in relation to the use of artificial intelligence.

A new analysis from BCG, ”GenAI Complacency – The Costly Inaction in the Nordics” shows that only 16% of Danish white-collar workers use AI weekly. Denmark thus ends up in last place in the Nordic region and far below the European average of 54%.

At the same time, the Danes report that they only achieve an average time saving of 2.2 hours per week compared to 5.3 hours in Europe, which, according to BCG, costs Denmark up to DKK 75 billion overall. DKK annually in lost productivity gains and growth potential.

The bottom ranking is due, among other things, to the fact that we underestimate the need for AI training for employees. Just 40% of Danish companies currently have AI employee training initiatives.

“In many companies, it is still up to the individual employee to teach themselves how to use AI. But it is a technology that has such a big effect in companies that you will have to invest in the upskilling of virtually all employees. And it is urgent, because the rest of the world is already running away from us,” concludes Natasha Friis Saxberg.

In order to get the most out of the company’s AI solutions, the IT Branch suggests that you put the implementation into a system by:

  • Provide free access to AI solutions. Establish and offer one or more secure AI solutions, so that the management shows that it is perfectly fine, even expected, that the employees use artificial intelligence in everyday life.
  • Provide AI training. Provide training for the employee in the use of the solution and in the guidelines that the company has established regarding the use of AI.
  • Analyze one’s work tasks. The employee identifies what the daily work actually consists of. How much time does it take to find information? What kind of information is that? How much of the day is spent processing information? All these task types are obvious to use AI for.
  • Making AI everyday. Pick one or two of the most obvious tasks and consistently use AI to solve them every single day for at least three months.
  • Share and use one’s experiences. Establish user groups across the organization so that experiences and tips are shared with each other, just as the individual employee must keep a log book of the progress or setbacks that occur, as well as how much productivity, quality and job satisfaction are increased.
