These new phones from Motorola promise to, er, break down much less quickly

Motorola has unveiled two new devices that should last even longer. In terms of updates, but mainly in terms of physical lifespan.

Nowadays, phones receive software updates for longer and longer periods of time. That’s nice, but a lot can happen in 5 years or more. Then you can still get an update, but your phone should still work. Motorola wants to increase that chance with the Moto G75 and ThinkPhone25. The second is mainly aimed at business users, following the example of the ThinkPad laptops.

Both devices meet the military certifications MIL-STD-810H. The Moto g75 has Gorilla Glass 5, the ThinkPhone25 even Gorilla Glass 7. The business device is also made of Aramid fiber, which is stronger than steel. The devices are also IP68 dust and waterproof: that is enough for up to half an hour under water up to a depth of 1.5 meters. When you get out of the water, the g75 has Water Touch technology so that you can still operate the screen after swimming or during a rain shower. The ThinkPhone25 operates at temperatures from -30ºC to 60°C, and at 95% humidity.

Sturdy is not necessarily expensive

The ThinkPhone25 has a 6.36-inch OLED screen with a 13 percent higher resolution than its predecessor. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor and gets 5 years of Android updates. The device is also available with a business support package, including a three-year warranty, a Clean OS, Zero Touch Management, one year of Moto Devices Manager, one year of Software Control. The ThinkPhone25 is available in Carbon Black and will be delivered from mid-November for a suggested retail price of 499.99 euros.

The Moto G75 has a 6.78-inch Full HD+ screen and runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The device has, among other things, a 50 megapixel main camera and also offers 5 years of Android updates. This device is available in dark gray, but the colors Sky Gray and Relucent Blue are exclusively available via Motorola’s website. The Motorola g75 will be available from the end of October and has a suggested retail price of 299.99 euros.
