Sleep tracking, even for naps

Concretely, the Coros update of September 2024 adds a sleep monitoring and quality function to the watches in the range. Thus, the watches will now be able to automatically detect naps taken by the user. Sleep quality monitoring will be determined according to sleep time and the different phases, with an index ranging from 1 to 5.

While sleep quality will be offered on all updated Coros watches, nap detection will be limited to the most recent models (Coros Pace 3, Vertix 2S, Vertix 2, Apex 2, Apex 2 Pro).

More advanced features for swimming, cycling and running

In addition to sleep tracking, Coros watches will also benefit from some welcome new features for cycling, with the integration of gravel and mountain bike modes. Coros also offers data fields for FTP percentage, maximum heart rate percentage, heart rate reserve percentage or lactate threshold percentage.

Regarding pool swimming, the September update now adds arm rotation tracking with interval management.

Finally, the update will also allow you to benefit from a running fitness test to assess the different heart rate and pace thresholds to be favored during training.

Some Coros watches left behind

The Coros September 2024 update will be rolling out to most recent Coros watches in the coming months.

However, the manufacturer is also taking the opportunity to leave some older models on the sidelines, without most updates, due to their more limited storage capacities.

This is the case for the Coros Apex Pro, released in 2019, the Coros Vertix 1 (2019) and the Coros Pace 2 (2020). None of them will benefit from nap detection or the new pool swimming analysis. The Apex Pro and Vertix 1 will also only benefit from sleep quality monitoring or the running test
