Vassilis Mazouranis was the 53-year-old driver of the car that was killed at midnight on Saturday 16/11, in an accident that occurred in the area of Vardari in Thessaloniki.

Six other people were injured in the traffic accident, including five minors.
The accident happened around 23:30. Under unclear circumstances, the car driven by the 53-year-old collided head-on with another car, at the junction of Egnatia and Lagada streets.
The five minor passengers of the vehicle in which the driver of Vassilis Mazouranis, who was also the father of two of the children, died were slightly injured.

The unfortunate musician went on Saturday night to a nightclub in the city in order to pick up his two 16-year-old children and their three underage friends and return them to their homes. During their return to the area of western Thessaloniki, the fatal collision took place that cost him his life.
In addition to the fatal injury of 53-year-old Vassilis Mazouranis, the driver of the vehicle that collided with him was slightly injured and his five minor passengers, three girls and two boys, were slightly injured. The injured were taken to “Papanikolau” and “Gennimatas” hospitals by EKAV ambulances. The rescue of the injured was attended by a team of the Fire Department.
A preliminary investigation into the circumstances of the accident is being carried out by police officers of the Thessaloniki Traffic Directorate.

According to a statement from the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, the fatal accident occurred shortly before midnight, at the intersection of Monastriou and Lagada streets, when the car driven by a 49-year-old man collided with a passenger vehicle driven by the 53-year-old.
The 53-year-old man died in the collision. In the same car there were five other minors, aged 16.
The Western Districts were a Greek rock band.
It was created in Thessaloniki in April 1996 by childhood friends Kostas Mylosis and Vassilis Mantzouranis.
The band’s name comes from the western districts of the city where its members grew up and live. They have collaborated with artists such as: Dimitris Zerboudakis, Panteli Thalassino, Miltiadis Paschalidis, Iro, Michalis Rakintzis, Xylina Spathia, Ble and with Valantis and Vassilis Karras.
In 2001, they released their first album, entitled “Tis Iris the colors”, which was successful with songs such as “Summer dates” and “Tell me why”.
Their second album entitled “Away from you” was released in 2003 and reached 15,000 sales.
After 13 years of running and 4 records, the group stopped its activities in 2009.
