They cooked 30 tons of tarhana and entered the Guinness Book of World Records!

At the festival organized by Uşak Municipality at Yeşil Karaağaç Picnic and Recreation Area, a giant cauldron prepared for tarhana soup was set up in the area. In order to enter the Guinness Book of Records, tarhana soup preparation began in the morning hours under the leadership of 33 cooks.

It took six hours

During the preparation, the lid of the giant cauldron was opened and closed with the help of a crane set up in the area. Guinness Word Records Turkey Referee and Representative Şeyda Subaşı Gemici and her entourage made the necessary measurements and controls on the soup that was cooked in approximately 6 hours.

Gemici, who then announced the result on the stage set up in the area, stated that in order to be the owner of the record, it is necessary to comply with the international rules of Guinness World Records and explained what these rules are.

Gemici stated that the record was held by the Netherlands with 26 thousand 658 liters, and that Uşak Municipality became the new record holder with 30 thousand 292 liters.

The world’s largest cauldron

Gemici presented the record certificate to Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım. Yalım thanked everyone who contributed and supported the production of tarhana soup and said, “Our aim is definitely to promote Uşak. We will continue to promote Uşak, which is my biggest goal. Our second aim is to better promote tarhana, which is the symbol of Uşak. We are now the world record holder, the owner of tarhana cooked in the world’s largest cauldron. May the tarhana producers in Uşak, who produced 30 thousand 292 liters of tarhana in this cauldron, yield 2 thousand 200 liters of tarhana, have a blessed purse. May God bless them all, may their efforts be healthy.”

After the speeches, tarhana soup was distributed to those in the area.
