Health workers say that the food served in public hospitals is unhealthy and bad, and that they cannot eat healthy. The last example of this was revealed with the meals served in the morning and dinner at Elazığ Kovancılar State Hospital the day before. While healthcare workers were given burnt chicken for dinner, a breakfast consisting of a piece of bread, a fruit juice, a square of cheese, a few olives and two jams was recommended for breakfast. Healthcare Workers’ Rights and Struggle Association (SAHA-DER) shared the meals in question on social media and asked the Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, “Don’t our healthcare personnel and patients deserve a good diet?” he said.
THEY PAY IT OUT OF THEIR POCKETS
Commenting on the issue to Cumhuriyet, SAHADER Chairman of the Board of Directors, Abdurrahman Aktürk, stated that the meals served in the cafeteria are far from hygiene, nutrition and taste and said, “That’s why many of our friends have to pay for their own meals out of their own pockets. We wrote to the Ministry of Health on this issue many times and looked for a solution. “Our requests were ignored,” he said.
