They examined the inside of the new Xbox Series X models, found such changes –

Customers of the diskless and 2 TB Series X can count on a smaller chip and different cooling.

Although we do not yet know the successors of the Xbox Series machines, Microsoft announced three new versions a few months ago. In addition to its color, the white Xbox Series X (Robot White) also differs from the current model in that it does not have a disc drive, it can only run digital content, but it is cheaper in return. There is a special edition of the Series X equipped with a 2 TB SSD, the Galaxy Black, whose exterior is decorated with silver, gray and green dots, a unique controller is also included, and the Series S also gets a new edition with a 1 TB version, which, unlike the one available now, will not be black, but white, like the original model.

For the time being, the new variations are only available in the United States, they will not arrive in the other markets until October 29, thanks to which the content producers in America have already been able to get involved. One of them, a YouTuber named Austin Evans, didn’t mince words, he took the new Xbox Series X models to pieces and, of course, talked about his discoveries in a video.

The new Series X machines have changed not only from the outside, but also from the inside: Microsoft has redesigned the motherboards of the diskless and 2 TB versions, as a result of which the SoC has shrunk to 6 nm and switched to a new cooling solution. According to Evans, this means the 2TB models consume about 10 watts less when idle than their predecessors, and the digital version even less, at just 38. While playing, the predecessor required 167 watts, the discless one is enough with 156, and the 2 TB option with 151. The temperature output and the noise level did not change.

Overall, the redesigned internals of the new Xbox Series Xs make the consoles cheaper for Microsoft to manufacture, and this updated hardware could also make the Xbox Cloud Gaming servers run more efficiently. You can watch Austin Evans’ full video about his experience below:
