Late this afternoon the lifeless bodies of two people were located in the vicinity of Letur. The findings are part of the search for the six people who disappeared on October 29, during a flood that devastated the Albacete town of Letur, during a meteorological episode carried out by a DANA throughout the southeast of the peninsula.
This was announced by the delegate of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha in Albacete, Pedro Antonio Ruiz Santos, who, however, has clarified that they have not yet been able to be identified. They were very close to where the body of Antonia, another of the missing people, was located, about 12 kilometers from the town. All the families have already been spoken to and the delegate has highlighted the “hard” moment during the appearance before the media.
The search and rescue phase will not be concluded yet, at least until the identity of the six people is confirmed. Work is still being done to determine the identity of three of the bodies located. “We will not consider it closed until we know reliably who are the people who disappeared from Letur.”
A few hours earlier, Ruiz Santos also confirmed that the fourth body found at the mouth of the Letur stream in the Segura River on Tuesday afternoon corresponds to Jonathan, a young man who disappeared with his partner, Mónica, on October 29. due to the avalanche of water that, in three waves, devastated the old town of the Albacete town.
That day six people disappeared. On October 30, the device located the body of Dolores, a 92-year-old woman, in the vicinity of the municipality’s treatment plant, one and a half kilometers away. We had to wait until Sunday, November 3, to find Antonia, a woman of about 70 years old. His body was 12 kilometers from Letur.
This week two other bodies have been located and identified. Just today, thanks to DNA tests, I confirmed Jonathan’s identity and there is another whose identity is unknown. With the last two findings this afternoon, the search would be completed if it is finally confirmed that they are the missing people.
In the Cuenca town of Mira that day, an 88-year-old woman also died due to the floods.
