Polish tennis players fought their way into the top four at the final tournament of the Billie-Jean King Cup. In the quarter-finals they won in Malaga over Český 2:1.
The triumph was decided in the final doubles, in which Katarzyna Kawová and Iga Swiateková defeated the pair of Marie Bouzková and Kateřina Siniaková 6:2, 6:4.
In the battle for the final, they will meet the Italians, who also beat Japan 2:1.
Initially, Bouzková surprised against Magdalena Frechová, whom she defeated 6:1, 4:6 and 6:4. Her compatriot Nosková made the match difficult for world number two Swiateková, who decided the first set only in a tiebreak 7:6 (4) and lost the second 4:6.
However, the five-time Grand Slam winner decided in the third set, which she won 7:5.
She appeared in doubles for the first time since the December exhibition match in the United Arab Emirates, while she was last in a tight match in singles in October 2021.
Despite this, she was able to beat the tandem with Kawová, where the world doubles number one Siniaková was featured.
