They operated on a pig using PlayStation controllers

Console controllers can open new paths in remote operation, as another case proves.

A group of Swiss surgeons performed a successful endoscopic procedure on a pig who, moreover, was physically located in another city in another country, Hong Kong. The medical feat was created as a collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and ETH Zurich. An even more bizarre and important detail of the case is that all of this was done with the help of a PlayStation Move controller and a PS5 DualSense controller, thus bridging the distance of thousands of miles during the operation.

Telesurgical endoscopy can provide immediate diagnostic and surgical care in remote areas, where the PlayStation controller can still help. The use of game controllers in medicine opens up new possibilities, according to Dr. Bradley Nelson, a professor at ETH Zurich, who also said that the next stage of the research will be to perform remote surgery on a human stomach using the method.
