They tested the new Apple processor. Here are the Silicon M4 performance results

Apple introduced its latest iPad models on Tuesday. The most surprising thing was the use of the Apple Silicon M4 chip in the Pro tablet models. The first results of the performance tests of these processors have already circulated the Internet.

Recall that the Let loose event, where the latest Apple tablets were presented, took place in London. New generations of iPad Air and iPad Pro appeared, but it was the latter that attracted more attention, mainly due to the new Apple Silicon M4 system.

Apple Silicon M4 – new chip

Apple decided to introduce completely new chips that have not been used in any device before. This is the first time that the new system has debuted in tablets, and not in iPhones or Mac computers.

It should be added that the devices presented on Tuesday will be available for purchase on Wednesday, May 15. Despite this, the results of the first performance tests of the M4 processors installed in these devices can already be found on the Internet.

Apple Silicon M4 – better performance

Typically the first to appear are the Geekbench results, this time from version 6.2.

There are various scores available, and they hover around 3800 and 14600 points in single-core and multi-core tests. Example scores are 3767 and 3810, and 14677 and 14541.

In comparison, the MacBook Air M3, achieved 3100 and 11882 points. The M2 chip achieves around 2600 and 10000 points – these results we obtained while testing the 15-inch MacBook Air.

During the presentation, it was emphasized that the M4 significantly outperforms its predecessors (M2, M3), especially in multi-core tests. The new processor is available in two versions – with a 9-core and 10-core CPU, while the M2 and M3 chips have 8-core CPUs. The presented results refer to the more powerful version of the chip.

It is also worth mentioning the graphics test results of the M4 processor. The Metal test result is 53,792 points. The M3 in the MacBook Air reaches 47,406 points, which is an increase of about 22%.
