A Hurricane Helene has been wreaking havoc off the southeast coast of the United States for the past few days. The strong storm damaged roads, flooded cities and caused small and large landslides, writes the BBC. Hurricane Helene first made landfall on Florida’s west coast a week ago, then continued its path as a tropical storm in states like Georgia and North Carolina.

One of those landslide recorded by a camera installed in a married couple’s car. They were just trying to escape from the area hit by the storm, when suddenly the mountain they were driving by started moving. The mudslide sweeps away a parked SUV and a truck before the camera fades to black.

Fortunately, the couple’s car remained undamaged and they were able to continue their escape, as evidenced by the image from the camera mounted on the front of the car.

The storm left behind an enormous amount of damage: thousands of cars were destroyed by flooding, roads were destroyed and North Carolina’s key quartz mine, which supplies an important microchip raw material for the world’s auto industry, was inoperable. Quartz mined from the area is used to melt polysilicon, which is used to produce silicon wafers, which are essential for the manufacture of semiconductors.
